Owner, Leo Training Systems

Steve Leo is a distinguished performance coach with more than two decades of experience in speed, strength, and athletic development. Holding a B.S. in Sports Administration from Centenary College, he has built his career on technical mastery, long-term athletic development, and elevating athletes at every level—youth, collegiate, and professional.

Leo’s work extends into the highest tiers of performance. His résumé includes training Olympic gold medalist Tobin Heath (USA Women’s Soccer), supporting the New York Jets during the 2011 NFL lockout, and coaching numerous athletes across the NFL, MLB, and WNBA—as well as more than 100 Division I athletes in all sports.

A respected figure in the performance industry, Leo is the Owner of Leo Training Systems LLC and previously launched and operated the Parisi Speed School in Sparta, NJ. His facility earned Parisi Facility of the Year in 2014, and he later received the Parisi Lifetime Achievement Award in 2022. Today, he serves as the national Education Manager for Parisi Speed School, leading certification development, coach mentorship, and educational initiatives for Affiliates nationwide.

Leo currently serves as the Head Coach for Track & Field and Cross-Country at Fairleigh Dickinson University–Florham. Before FDU, he was the Sprints/Horizontal Jumps Coach and Strength & Conditioning Coach at Drew University, where his first season produced 12 Landmark Conference Champions, including record breakers, NCAA Division III National Qualifiers, and NCAA All-Americans.

From 2017–2024, he served as Director of Strength & Conditioning at Gill St. Bernard’s School, guiding the Knights to seven State Championships in Lacrosse and Soccer, multiple Track and Field Meet of Champions titles, and more than 25 collegiate athletic commitments. He also oversaw facility upgrades and designed the school’s long-term athletic development system.

As a VertiMax Master Trainer and Advisory Board Member, Leo is recognized as a national leader in power and speed development. He earned VertiMax Trainer of the Year honors in 2019 and 2023, and he has educated hundreds of coaches across the country with a blend of foundational coaching principles and cutting-edge performance technology.

Leo is also a respected educator in the classroom. He has taught Anatomy & Physiology and Exercise Science in High School and currently at the Parisi Academy in Fair Lawn NJ, further strengthening his ability to connect human performance theory with real-world athletic application.

In addition to his coaching and education roles, Steve has been a keynote speaker for USA Track & Field, VertiMax, Parisi Speed School, Smarter Team Training, the NJSIAA, and many other organizations, sharing his expertise with coaches, administrators, and performance professionals nationwide.

Steve lives in Rockaway, New Jersey, with his wife Michelle and their daughters Samantha, a collegiate track athlete at Ursinus College, and Maggie, a competitive high school and club swimmer.
